Legally Binding Version: The Traditional Chinese version of these Terms of Service is the legally binding version. This English version is for convenience only; in case of discrepancy, the Traditional Chinese version shall prevail.

Key Points First

This is the contract between Dimension Space and you. Use of this app constitutes your agreement to these Terms.

If you are under 18, please read this with your parent. Parental consent is required for certain features (subscriptions, first-time question photo, Diamond purchase, etc.).

These Terms should be read together with the Privacy Policy. For inquiries, email support@starcloudedu.com.


1. Acceptance of Terms

Downloading and using the App, registering an account, subscribing to a paid version, or ticking "I agree to the Terms of Service" inside the App constitutes acceptance of these Terms.

If you do not agree, please stop using the App and delete your account.

We may update these Terms; material updates will be announced in-app and require re-confirmation.


2. Definitions

3. Eligibility

This App is designed primarily for Hong Kong secondary school students (Form 1 to Form 6, ages 11–18) and is suitable for users aged 11 and above.

3.1 Age Declaration

By registering, you declare that you are at least 11 years old and that the age band you provide is truthful and accurate. If we have reasonable grounds to believe a user has misrepresented their age (especially if under 11), we have the right to suspend or terminate the account and process collected data under the Privacy Policy deletion procedures.

3.2 Parental Responsibility

Parents may at any time withdraw consent or request to view / delete the child's data. Parents are responsible for supervising the child's use, preventing age misrepresentation, and any fees arising from parental consent.


4. Account

  • The App uses Sign in with Apple; the Apple ID is managed directly by Apple, and we never touch the password
  • You are responsible for protecting account security and for all activities through your account
  • One Apple ID per account; you may not share, transfer, or create accounts for fictitious users
  • You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account (revocable within a 30-day grace period)

5. The Service We Provide

Dimension Space provides AI-assisted learning features. Specific features, course content, characters, virtual items, etc. will be continuously updated; the version currently provided in the App governs.

5.1 Nature of the AI Companion (Transparent Disclosure)

The "AI Companion" is an artificial intelligence program, not a real friend, teacher, or counsellor. While you can rename the AI Companion or choose its character appearance, this is only UI personalisation — it does not mean the AI has real emotions or understands you the way a friend would.

How conversations are handled: your conversations with the AI are stored in our Hong Kong backend under the Privacy Policy in order to provide the service (default retention 6–12 months — see Privacy Policy Section 6), but the AI model has no real emotional memory and does not form a real-friend relationship with you. We encourage students: when facing difficulty or emotional issues, first talk to a trusted parent / teacher / friend, not rely on the AI.

5.2 Anti-Dark-Pattern Commitment

We commit not to use the following manipulative designs on minor users:

  • ❌ Gacha / random rewards / loot boxes (avoiding gambling elements)
  • ❌ Infinite scroll or other addictive UI patterns
  • ❌ FOMO timers / countdown-pressured payment prompts
  • ❌ Punishing streak-break mechanics (streak design only rewards, never punishes)
  • ❌ Inducing IAP via emotional manipulation (e.g., "Your companion will be sad")

We encourage healthy use: the App provides usage time statistics; we recommend parents set time limits via iOS Screen Time.

5.3 Right to Modify the Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature. For material changes, we will give 30 days' in-app notice; if changes adversely affect paid users, we will offer proportional refunds.


6. Subscription and Payment

6.1 Free Tier

The free tier provides basic learning features but with usage caps and limits on advanced features.

6.2 Pro Monthly (HK$158/month)

Charged via Apple In-App Purchase (IAP), auto-renewing until cancelled.

New users get a 7-day free trial on first subscription; cancel anytime during the trial. Each Apple ID is entitled to one trial.

To cancel: iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → Dimension Space → Cancel. After cancellation, you may continue using until the end of the current period.

6.3 Pro Yearly (HK$1288/year)

Same Pro features, equivalent to about HK$107/month. Charged via Apple IAP, auto-renewing.

6.4 Diamonds (In-App Points)

"Diamonds" are the App's in-app points system, a single-direction consumption-only virtual item:

  • No real-world monetary value, not redeemable for cash or other physical items
  • Cannot be transferred, resold, or exchanged with third parties
  • Used to redeem virtual items within this App (in-App use only)
  • Redeemed Diamonds are non-refundable
  • Unredeemed Diamonds: before account deletion / service termination, can be refunded under the Section 7 mechanism (subject to Apple review)
  • Once the account-deletion process completes, remaining Diamonds expire
Legal nature: based on the above "non-redeemable for cash, non-circulating, pure in-app points" single-direction consumption nature, Diamonds do not constitute "virtual assets" as defined under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance (Cap. 615), nor do they constitute financial instruments regulated under the Securities and Futures Ordinance (Cap. 571).

6.5 Price Changes

We reserve the right to adjust prices. Price increases on existing subscriptions require 30 days' prior notice; you may cancel before the increase takes effect.


7. Refund Policy

7.1 Apple IAP Refund Process

For purchases via the Apple App Store (subscriptions, Diamonds), regular refunds are processed by Apple. You may request via reportaproblem.apple.com; we will cooperate with Apple's review. For accidental purchases by minors, we will actively support parental refund under Apple's Family Sharing / Ask to Buy mechanisms.

7.2 Service Defect Refund (Statutory Rights Reserved)

If our service itself is defective (e.g., features unusable, prolonged AI system outages), you have the right to request a refund directly from us (not solely from Apple). This is a statutory right under the Sale of Goods Ordinance (Cap. 26) and the Supply of Services (Implied Terms) Ordinance (Cap. 457), and these Terms do not exclude it. Email support@starcloudedu.com with subject "Service Defect Refund".

7.3 Diamond Refund Rules

Redeemed Diamonds are non-refundable; unredeemed Diamonds, if requested within a reasonable time (typically within 90 days of IAP purchase) and under Apple's rules, will be cooperated with Apple's review.

If a service defect affects the use-value of Diamonds, §7.2 statutory rights apply.


8. Your Content

8.1 You Retain Ownership

Ownership of all content you upload always remains with you.

8.2 You Grant Us a Limited Use Right

To provide the service, you grant us a limited, service-purpose-only right of use: storing on our Hong Kong servers, processing with AI models to generate answers, syncing across your devices. This right terminates upon account deletion.

8.3 Our Commitments

  • We will not proactively use your content to train AI models; the commercial AI API contract also prohibits using customer input for training (we will notify if third-party terms change in future)
  • We will not display your content to other users
  • We will not use your content for marketing or sell it to third parties

8.4 Your Warranties

You warrant that your uploaded content is lawfully held by you, contains no obscene / violent / defamatory / infringing / harassing / threatening content, and is not for malicious testing of AI. We may remove violating content and may terminate the account.


9. Acceptable Use

This App is for personal non-commercial learning use. You may not:

  • Use the App for commercial purposes or to build a competing product
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code or AI models
  • Mass-scrape our content
  • Attempt to bypass usage caps
  • Upload malicious code
  • Use the App in supervised exam environments (this is cheating)
  • Use AI conversations to generate content harmful to yourself or others
  • Impersonate other users
  • Use the App in violation of any applicable law

9.1 Strictly Forbidden — Illegal Content Involving Children

Given that the App's primary users are minors aged 11–17, even though the App has no inter-user sharing mechanism (uploaded photos are only viewable by the uploader), under Hong Kong law, uploading or storing the following content to the App / our servers itself constitutes a criminal offence — strictly forbidden:

  • Uploading any child pornography or sexualised content (including but not limited to selfies / sexualised photos of classmates): under Sections 3 and 5 of the Prevention of Child Pornography Ordinance (Cap. 579), producing or possessing child pornography is itself unlawful — distribution or sharing is not required; this also breaches Sections 139 / 140 of the Crimes Ordinance (Cap. 200)
  • Using AI conversations to generate, instigate, or harass sexualised content involving children (grooming / sexual harassment), in violation of Section 146 of the Crimes Ordinance
  • Uploading content that threatens the personal safety of yourself or others (including self-harm / suicide guidance, threats of violence)

As platform operator, we will, upon discovering such content, immediately delete it, terminate the account, and proactively report to the Hong Kong Police / Department of Justice / Social Welfare Department / Customs as required by law.

9.2 Consequences and Reporting

Violations may result in warnings, account suspension, or permanent termination (no refunds for serious violations). For suspected unlawful conduct, we cooperate with investigations by the Hong Kong Police / Department of Justice / Social Welfare Department and other law enforcement / welfare authorities.

If you discover any of the above violating content or suspicious AI responses, email support@starcloudedu.com immediately. In emergencies, dial 999, or contact the SWD child protection hotline (2755 1122) or Against Child Abuse.


10. AI Service Disclaimer (Please Note)

10.1 AI Can Make Mistakes

The App's core features rely on AI models. AI can be wrong, including giving incorrect answers, being inconsistent, or fabricating non-existent facts.

The AI Companion is only a learning aid; it is not a teacher, doctor, psychotherapist, lawyer, or any regulated professional advice. For professional advice, please consult the appropriate licensed professional.

We make no guarantee on any examination outcome (HKDSE, school exams, etc.). All consequences of using AI answers are your own responsibility. Before important actions (homework, exams, decisions), rely on textbooks and teacher input.

10.2 Mental Health Crisis Protection Commitment

We commit to progressively building the following child mental-health protection mechanisms (some already implemented, others rolled out in subsequent versions; the App's current version governs):

  1. AI Safety Guidance: when AI conversations involve sensitive topics such as self-harm, suicide, abuse, bullying, or eating disorders, the AI will guide students not to treat these topics as ordinary learning questions and proactively provide Hong Kong crisis hotlines:
  • Samaritans Suicide Prevention 2389 2222 (24 hours)
  • Suicide Prevention Services Hotline 2382 0000 (24 hours)
  • SWD child protection hotline 2755 1122
  1. Post-report handling: upon receiving a report under Privacy Policy §9.4, we will assess:
  • If assessed as an imminent personal safety threat, we will contact the verified parent email, exercising parental rights under the Guardianship of Minors Ordinance (Cap. 13) and the Parent and Child Ordinance (Cap. 429)
  • If we have reasonable grounds to believe the child faces abuse / sexual exploitation, we will proactively report to the SWD / Police as a voluntary act of a responsible platform operator (the Protection of Children and Juveniles Ordinance (Cap. 213) does not mandate platform reporting in general, but we voluntarily assume this responsibility)

This mechanism reflects best interests of the child (UNCRC Art. 3) and prioritises personal safety over general privacy when assessed as an imminent threat.

Honest Statement: this clause is an ongoing product commitment; some automatic detection mechanisms take time to build. We will indicate the actual scope of the mechanism in the App's release notes.

11. Intellectual Property

The names "Dimension Space" / "次元空間", trademarks, App source code, UI design, visual style, all pre-generated content, character / pet / scene art, and AI-generated content (the portion we fund) are owned by Dimension Space or our licensors. Except for fair dealing permitted under the Copyright Ordinance (Cap. 528) (such as reasonable use for education, research, criticism, or news reporting), you may not copy, modify, distribute, or commercially use without written consent.

The content you upload (question photos, your own notes, custom names, etc.) is yours (see Section 8).

You may screenshot and share with friends / social media for personal non-commercial display, but you may not use our character likenesses on other platforms or for commercial purposes.

If you provide feedback or suggestions, you grant us an unlimited use right, but we will not publicly associate your personal identity with the suggestion.


12. Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services; using related features is also subject to their terms:

We are not responsible for third-party service availability or policy changes, but will endeavour to provide alternatives or refunds.


13. Service Termination

You may cancel subscription or delete the account at any time.

We may terminate your account due to serious breach of these Terms, harm to other users or us, legal requirements, or the App ceasing operations entirely (with 7 days' email notice except in emergencies).

After account termination:

  • Data: handled under the Privacy Policy deletion procedure
  • Subscription: paid-but-unconsumed portion refunded proportionally
  • Diamonds: redeemed Diamonds are non-refundable; for unredeemed Diamonds, if termination is due to our breach or service defect, refunds may be sought under §7.2 / §7.3; if termination is due to your serious breach, Diamonds expire without refund

14. Disclaimer

The App is provided "AS-IS" and "AS-AVAILABLE". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no express or implied warranties, including but not limited to: that the App will always be bug-free, the accuracy of AI answers, that it will meet specific learning goals, that exam results will improve, or that it will be compatible with all devices.

We will use commercially reasonable efforts to provide a stable service, but assume no legal liability for the above.


15. Limitation of Liability

15.1 General Liability Cap

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate general contractual / tortious liability shall not exceed the amount you actually paid us in the 12 months preceding the event; for free-tier users, the general liability cap is HK$200 (a symbolic amount).

We are not liable for: academic outcomes from AI errors, losses due to third-party service interruption, force majeure losses, or any indirect / incidental / special / punitive / consequential losses.

15.2 The Cap Does Not Apply to (Statutory Exceptions)

The following liabilities are not subject to the §15.1 cap; we will bear reasonable damages under Hong Kong law:

  • Data breaches / security incidents causing actual quantifiable harm (e.g., identity theft, parent email impersonation)
  • Personal injury or death caused by our negligence
  • Our fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Substantive breach of the PDPO
  • Liabilities that the Control of Exemption Clauses Ordinance (Cap. 71), Sale of Goods Ordinance (Cap. 26), Supply of Services (Implied Terms) Ordinance (Cap. 457), or Unconscionable Contracts Ordinance (Cap. 458) prohibit excluding or limiting

16. Indemnification

If, due to an adult user's intentional violation or gross negligence (e.g., maliciously uploading infringing content, attacking our systems), a third party brings a meritorious claim against us, that adult user agrees to bear our reasonable legal costs, settlement, or judgment amounts.

Important Limitations:

  • This clause does not apply to minors under 18 — for minor violations, we seek remedies under Hong Kong law against the violating minor or their guardian, but not under this clause
  • This clause does not apply to non-intentional minor breaches or general usage disputes
  • This clause is governed by the Unconscionable Contracts Ordinance (Cap. 458); if a court finds its application unconscionable in a given situation, that application is partially void

17. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by Hong Kong SAR law. For disputes, please first email support@starcloudedu.com — we will respond within 14 days and seek to resolve in good faith. If unresolved, the parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Hong Kong SAR courts.

These Terms do not affect your statutory rights under Hong Kong consumer law.


18. Changes to Terms

  • Material changes (e.g., changes to data use, price increases, new obligations): in-app pop-up + email notice, with 30 days' advance notice, and you must affirmatively click "I Agree" in the pop-up before the new Terms apply to you. If you decline, you may delete your account before the effective date free of the new Terms; paid-but-unconsumed fees are refunded proportionally
  • Minor changes (typos, clarifications, wording adjustments not affecting user rights): only the version number on this page is updated; no re-confirmation required

19. Miscellaneous

  • Entire Agreement: these Terms together with the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement, superseding any prior oral or written agreements
  • Severability: invalidity of any clause does not affect the validity of others
  • No Waiver: failure to enforce a right does not waive it
  • Assignment: you may not assign your rights or obligations; we may assign to a successor in case of corporate restructuring
  • Notice: notices via in-app prompts / emails to your Apple ID-linked email / parent email are deemed delivered
